p3 grew out of 20 years of architectural practice in South Central Kansas and a deep desire to partner with small communities to ensure they remain stable, growing and vibrant.

We are most concerned for the PEOPLE in our society, the beneficiaries of our work. Regardless of your need, we deliver a comprehensive portfolio of services through a careful, thoughtful PROCESS that yields practical solutions. Ultimately, what we collaboratively create with our project partners is PLACE, a true sense of location and emotion for clients and community stakeholders.

We use diverse tools and a strikingly smart and effective community development model to support municipal government, municipal planning departments and commissions, non-profit advocacy agencies, outside corporations needing community consensus and community and economic development organizations.

We’re in business to help build healthy, sustainable & prosperous communities

Healthy communities promote positive lifestyles choices along a broad spectrum. Signposts of a healthy community might include a local food cooperative, lobbying for access to organic and whole foods, master plans for community walking and biking networks and developing the framework and plan for community communication groups to give residents the tools necessary to solve local problems.

Sustainable communities make decisions for tomorrow, ensuring solutions and strategies can be sustained for the life of their usefulness and supported by future generations. Initiatives might include an environmental assessment of local natural assets, development and adoption of Smart Growth strategies for future development and land use, and development standards for streetscapes and storm water drainage.

Prosperous communities make smart decisions about development designed to yield a good return on investment. These communities prioritize comprehensive planning, capital improvement initiatives, facilitated community engagement meetings and project charrette services.

We have a strong value system

We will actively promote Smart Growth principles and strategies that lead to increasingly healthy, sustainable and prosperous communities.

We will work to support and strengthen the diversity of social norms and cultural traditions each community possesses, while actively discouraging any effort likely to weaken them.

We will promote self-sufficiency and self-reliance for all community members, enabling them to make lasting, positive changes that influence their lives and the life of their community.

We will promote the use of the Community Capitals Framework to ensure all aspects of a community’s health, sustainability and prosperity are considered for. This framework includes social, cultural, built, financial, political, natural and human capital.

We will actively work to enhance the leadership capacity of members, leaders and groups within the community.
